Overview
- Murphy rides at his childhood track for the first time on Tuesday with six booked mounts during day two of Killarney’s five-day July Festival.
- He arrived in strong form after riding a 2,558-1 five-timer at Windsor on Monday, a run that has increased media and betting interest in his Killarney card.
- The six rides include Joseph O'Brien's Celtic Motif, Denis Hogan's Tyraxes, Brendan Duke's Zheleznaya Dama, Mark Molloy's Elusive Duke, Michael O'Callaghan's Saga Gaga and Michael Flannery's Satono Chevalier.
- Murphy has described the outing as a lifelong dream and expects many family and friends to be in the crowd for what he called an especially meaningful day.
- Though a five-time British champion, Murphy has only eight Irish winners to date and his Killarney appearance will be watched for what it signals about his current form and the jockeys' championship race with Billy Loughnane.
