Oilers Recall Isaac Howard and Quinn Hutson After AHL Scoring Surges
The move rewards AHL production by giving each winger a fresh NHL opportunity.
Overview
- Edmonton announced the call-ups from Bakersfield after opening two roster spots by reassigning Max Jones.
- Howard, last season’s Hobey Baker winner acquired from Tampa Bay and signed to a three-year deal, posted 10 goals and 13 assists in 16 AHL games, tying for the league lead in points per game at 1.44.
- Hutson has 19 goals and 32 points in 26 AHL games and netted his first NHL goal on Dec. 18 against the Bruins during a brief three-game stint with limited minutes.
- Before his mid-November assignment, Howard logged two goals and one assist in 17 NHL games while averaging 9:30, and he says the AHL stint provided needed ice time, power-play reps and confidence.
- Coach Kris Knoblauch has yet to define their NHL usage, and coverage notes veteran wing struggles could create opportunities higher in the lineup.
