OIC Establishes Contact Group to De-Escalate Israel-Iran Conflict

Delegates meeting in Istanbul condemned recent strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, urging the IAEA to report the attacks to the UN Security Council.

  • A separate 13-article resolution extended the condemnation to U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites and expressed full solidarity with Tehran.
  • The group called on the International Atomic Energy Agency to unequivocally denounce the strikes as violations of international law and to report them to the Security Council.
  • Ministers reaffirmed Iran’s inherent right to self-defense and urged Israel to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty under comprehensive IAEA safeguards.
