Ohlstadt Man, 63, Found Dead in Langen-Köchel-See After Night Search

Police report no evidence of foul play and say the man likely drowned.

Overview

  • Witnesses reported an unattended bicycle, clothing and other belongings on the shore around 19:00, prompting a missing-person search.
  • A large multi-agency operation included local police patrols, a police helicopter, dog handlers, volunteer fire brigades from Eschenlohe and Murnau, the Wasserwacht Uffing and a private rescue-dog team.
  • The Wasserwacht Uffing located a lifeless person shortly after 1 a.m., and the body was recovered and identified as the 63-year-old from Ohlstadt.
  • Initial actions were handled by the Murnau police station, with further inquiries taken over by the Kriminaldauerdienst in Weilheim.
  • The artificial former quarry lake in the Murnauer Moos is about 80 meters deep, and this is the northern district’s second bathing fatality this year.
