Ohio Walmart Shooter Inspired by Racist Extremist Ideology

20-Year-Old Benjamin Charles Jones Had History of Mental Health Issues

Four people were injured in a shooting at a Walmart in Beavercreek, Ohio, by a man who later killed himself. The shooter has been identified as 20-year-old Benjamin Charles Jones.
Jones was reportedly inspired by racially motivated violent extremist ideology, with evidence including journal entries and Nazi flags found at his home.
Jones had been admitted to a hospital for mental health evaluations three times in the past two years and had never attended public school, instead attending an online Christian school.
It remains unclear how Jones obtained his firearm, a Hi-Point .45 caliber carbine, as federal law prohibits anyone involuntarily committed to a mental institution from buying a firearm.
