• Ohio Conference of Teamsters President Patrick J. Darrow said members want a leader who will fight for good-paying jobs and praised Vivek Ramaswamy’s commitment to labor.
• The union had previously supported former Rep. Tim Ryan, who has not announced a run for governor.
• Ramaswamy’s campaign says he already holds endorsements from the Ohio State Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters and the Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters, as well as two regional building trades councils.
• He is also endorsed by President Donald Trump and the Ohio Republican Party.
• The campaign reports nearly $220,000 of early donations came from individuals who previously contributed to Ryan, and Ramaswamy cast his bid as rising above traditional left-right politics.
