  • Smith will earn $850,000 this season, including a $615,000 base salary, $135,000 in supplemental pay, and a $50,000 retention payment if he remains coach on Dec. 31, 2025.
  • The deal also allows for a $50,000 annual retention payment for remaining head coach as of June 30, subject to contract terms.
  • Performance incentives can reach a maximum of $660,750 this season, and Smith has already secured $15,000 for a win over Power Four opponent West Virginia.
  • As of Dec. 1, 2025, Ohio would owe 100% of Smith’s remaining base salary ($2,511,250) if it terminates him without cause, and he would owe the same amount if he departs.
