Ohio Man Arrested for Falsifying Anti-Palestinian Hate Crime

Police reveal injuries were from a domestic dispute, not a racially motivated attack.

Hesham A. Ayyad, a 20-year-old Ohio man, has been arrested and charged with making false alarms, falsification, obstructing official business, domestic violence, and assault.
Ayyad had initially claimed he was the victim of an anti-Palestinian hate crime, alleging that an unknown driver had hurled anti-Palestinian slurs at him before running him over.
The Cleveland chapter of the American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) had called for an investigation into Ayyad's claims.
However, police investigations, including video surveillance, revealed that Ayyad's injuries were not from a hate crime but from a fight with his brother, Khalil A. Ayyad.
Khalil A. Ayyad, 19, was also arrested and charged with domestic violence and assault.
