Ohio Man Arrested for Falsifying Anti-Palestinian Hate Crime
Police reveal injuries were from a domestic dispute, not a racially motivated attack.
- Hesham A. Ayyad, a 20-year-old Ohio man, has been arrested and charged with making false alarms, falsification, obstructing official business, domestic violence, and assault.
- Ayyad had initially claimed he was the victim of an anti-Palestinian hate crime, alleging that an unknown driver had hurled anti-Palestinian slurs at him before running him over.
- The Cleveland chapter of the American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) had called for an investigation into Ayyad's claims.
- However, police investigations, including video surveillance, revealed that Ayyad's injuries were not from a hate crime but from a fight with his brother, Khalil A. Ayyad.
- Khalil A. Ayyad, 19, was also arrested and charged with domestic violence and assault.
