Ogden Man Arrested in U.S. 89 Puppy-Throwing Case

Authorities say the case remains open with one puppy still missing.

Overview

  • Deputies allege Memphis Lor, 25, threw six 3-week-old puppies from his car on U.S. 89 between Fruit Heights and Layton, resulting in two deaths, one serious injury, two uninjured puppies, and one unlocated.
  • Investigators say the puppies’ mother was abandoned near Bountiful Pond and found severely malnourished and emaciated with overgrown nails.
  • Lor was booked on seven counts of torturing a companion animal, was later released with conditions to appear in court, and has not been formally charged.
  • According to an arrest affidavit, Lor admitted he was driving about 65 mph and said he thought disposing of the puppies this way would be an easier death.
  • A neighbor identified the mother dog after social-media posts, enabling officers to link the animals to Lor, while Animal Care of Davis County reports the mother and surviving puppies are receiving medical treatment.
