Overview
- The blaze began around 3 p.m. on Oct. 28 near County Highway C in the Town of Gardner and jumped the roadway as winds pushed it through marsh grass.
- Roughly 140 firefighters from 19 departments across Door, Kewaunee, Brown and Manitowoc counties knocked down the main fire in about four to five hours.
- Responders used ATVs, drones and more than 30,000 gallons of water from a nearby pond to contain the flames.
- No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged across the roughly 65–70 acres that burned.
- Crews returned on Oct. 29 to extinguish hotspots with about 2,000 additional gallons, and departments later shared still images documenting the response and aftermath.
