  • On July 28 a 27-year-old gunman opened fire inside a Midtown Manhattan office tower on 52nd Street, killing Officer Didarul Islam and at least three civilians before dying by suicide.
  • A solemn dignified transfer of Officer Islam’s body from NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell to the medical examiner’s office took place on July 29 with Mayor Adams, Commissioner Tisch and Chief Chell in attendance.
