Overview
- Cardiovascular disease leads the tally, followed by respiratory infections (9.3%), cancers and other neoplasms (6.4%), and chronic respiratory diseases (5.7%).
- For ages 30 and older, cardiovascular conditions are the top cause of death, whereas suicide is the leading cause in those 15–29.
- Injuries account for 9.4% of fatalities, and ill-defined causes for 10.5%, with the latter concentrated largely at ages 70 and above.
- Compared with 2020–2022, the NCD share rose from 55.7% to 56.7% as communicable, maternal, perinatal and nutritional causes declined from 24.0% to 23.4%.
