• Officer Dakota Berry discovered the two‐vehicle collision on Interstate 10 on May 25 and retrieved a glass-breaking tool from his patrol SUV to reach the trapped driver.
• Bodycam footage shows Berry shattering the driver’s side window, pulling Asharie Cheatham to safety and dousing her hair with a fire extinguisher.
• Asharie Cheatham, daughter of Goodyear Fire Captain Simeon Cheatham, remains hospitalized in critical condition but is expected to recover.
• Berry sustained burns to his hands while putting out the flames and was also treated at a local hospital.
• Three other individuals from the crash were hospitalized and authorities say the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
