  • Shortly before 5 p.m. on August 8, an active shooter at the CVS on Emory’s Clifton Road campus prompted shelter-in-place orders that were lifted by 6:43 p.m.
  • Officers engaged a single suspect inside the store and found him dead at the scene; investigators are examining whether his fatal wounds were self-inflicted or the result of police fire.
  • DeKalb County officer David Rose was critically wounded while responding to the incident and later died from his injuries.
  • No civilians were harmed despite multiple rounds striking at least four CDC buildings and shattering windows across the street from the shooting site.
  • Investigators have identified the shooter as 30-year-old Patrick Joseph White of Kennesaw, Georgia.
