  • Emergency alerts went out around 4:50 p.m. after 911 calls reported an active shooter at the Emory Point CVS near Emory University and the CDC headquarters.
  • A DeKalb County officer was critically wounded while responding and later died at Emory University Hospital, becoming the sole law enforcement fatality.
  • At 6:43 p.m., officers entered the CVS, located the lone shooter on the second floor, and killed him in a gunfire exchange.
