Officer Accused of Shooting Police Chief and His Wife in Love Triangle Dispute

The officer, previously fired from another post, faces charges including negligent injury and obstruction of justice, while the police chief admits to infidelity.

Opelousas Police Chief Graig LeBlanc and his wife, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Crystal LeBlanc, were shot by Officer Savannah Butler on December 22, 2023, during a confrontation at Butler's home.
Butler, who was reportedly having an affair with Graig LeBlanc, allegedly fired a shot that went through Graig's hand and hit Crystal in the arm.
Butler is facing charges of negligent injury, obstruction of justice for cleaning up the scene to hide evidence, and illegal discharge of a firearm. She was released after posting a bond of $22,000.
Graig LeBlanc publicly admitted to infidelity following the shooting incident and has been placed on administrative leave along with Butler.
Crystal LeBlanc was issued a summons for trespassing onto Butler’s property.
