Office Boy Arrested for Stealing ₹40 Lakh from Music Composer Pritam's Studio

Mumbai Police tracked the suspect to Jammu and Kashmir, recovering 95% of the stolen cash after an extensive investigation.

Ashish Sayal, a 32-year-old office boy employed at music director Pritam Chakraborty's studio, was arrested for stealing ₹40 lakh on February 4, 2025.
Sayal fled Mumbai with the cash, leading police on a multi-state manhunt before he was apprehended in Jammu and Kashmir.
The theft was discovered when Pritam's manager, Vinit Chheda, found the cash bag missing after Sayal claimed he was delivering it to Pritam's residence.
Mumbai Police reviewed over 200 CCTV clips and traced Sayal's movements across Mumbai before locating him in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district.
Authorities recovered ₹36.91 lakh, along with a laptop and an iPhone purchased with the stolen money, and brought Sayal back to Mumbai for further investigation.
