Overview

• The victim, identified as Satyajit Sarangi, was discovered on Tuesday night near Hazari Bridge on National Highway 53 and rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where he remains in critical condition.
• Police arrested 26-year-old Kumari Laxmipriya Acharya from Adhapati village in Jagatsinghpur district on Thursday and charged her under Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code.
• Investigators say Acharya invited Sarangi on a motorcycle ride from Tirtol to Kendrapara before allegedly slitting his throat with a knife and fleeing the scene.
• Authorities contend the attack stemmed from a dispute over Acharya’s relationship with another security guard and Sarangi’s opposition to it.
• Kendrapara Sadar Police have engaged forensic experts and a dog squad to collect evidence at the scene and recover the weapon used in the assault.
