• Odisha Administrative Service officer Siba Mallick, tahsildar of Mahakalpada in Kendrapara, was caught allegedly accepting ₹20,000 from a complainant seeking removal of an illegal encroachment blocking his house access.
• Vigilance teams launched simultaneous searches at six locations linked to Mallick from a disproportionate-assets angle.
• Officials said a raid in connection with the cases yielded ₹1.54 lakh in cash.
• Mallick was booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and will be forwarded to court.
• In a separate case, former Bamanbindha Service Co-operative Society secretary Sudarsan Khatua was arrested in Bhadrak for alleged misappropriation of ₹13.32 lakh during 2020–21 and 2021–22.
