Odisha Unveils 3-Year Plan to Hire 44,433 Primary Teachers

Overview

  • The state targets about 15,000 appointments each year, with nearly 40,000 of the posts newly created.
  • Government figures combine 39,366 new positions with 5,067 expected vacancies by December 2025 to reach the 44,433 total.
  • Services of primary teachers working on ad hoc terms under various schemes will be regularised.
  • Free textbooks will be provided to all students in Classes 9 and 10, expanding a programme previously limited largely to Classes 1–8.
  • Hostels will get one Auxiliary Nurse Midwife for every 300 students to improve health support, and the BSE and CHSE will be merged into a single school board.
