Odisha Signs ₹18,654 Crore Concession Deals for Gopalpur Port Expansion and Paradip Jetty

  • On June 26, the state government inked two concession agreements for a captive jetty at Jatadhara Muhan and the expansion of Gopalpur Port under a PPP model.
  • JSW Utkal Steel will invest ₹2,100 crore to build the Jatadhara Muhan jetty, which is designed to handle 52 million metric tons of cargo per year and generate 3,450 jobs.
  • Gopalpur Ports Limited will pour ₹16,554 crore into modernizing Gopalpur Port, increasing its annual handling capacity to 50 million metric tons and creating about 5,000 roles.
  • The combined projects are expected to produce approximately 8,450 direct and indirect employment opportunities across Odisha’s coastline.
  • These initiatives complement plans for new ports at Inchudi and Bahuda and development efforts at Subarnarekha and Astaranga as part of Odisha’s broader maritime growth strategy.
