  • Odisha’s CID Crime Branch has taken over the Gopalpur beach case, arrested all ten suspects and collected DNA and forensic evidence while the prime accused with prior criminal cases is set to face trial as an adult.
  • In Baripada, a 31-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by four men known to her family on June 16, marking the third attack in three days with the suspects still at large.
  • Police arrested four people in Keonjhar district for the gang-rape and murder of a 17-year-old tribal girl whose body was found hanging from a tree following her disappearance.
  • The Congress party dispatched a five-member all-women fact-finding team led by Deepa Dasmunshi to Odisha and staged protests demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
  • Chief Minister Majhi has assured exemplary punishment for the culprits even as statistics show over 28,000 women have become victims of violence in the past year.
