Overview
- The scheme designates one model school per gram panchayat and selects primary schools that serve at least 100 students, offer classes from pre-primary to Class 8, and sit on more than two acres of land.
- Each school will receive up to Rs 7 crore to upgrade infrastructure, integrate technology and support future upgradation to high school level.
- Free transportation will be provided for students in remote and inaccessible areas to improve school access.
- The initiative prioritizes strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy by Class 3 in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020.
- Schools will function as feeders for high schools and offer a curriculum emphasizing STEM education, vocational skills and experiential learning.
