Overview
- The inaugural IndiGo flight transported 50 tonnes of Odisha-grown mangoes alongside 180 passengers to Abu Dhabi.
- IndiGo will run the route every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday under the state’s Building Management of Aviation Assets and Network initiative.
- The launch coincided with the BJP government’s first anniversary in Odisha and advances the state’s new destination policy for direct West Asia connections.
- Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the link will boost tourism, trade, investment and cultural exchange with Gulf markets.
- Odisha has also added new domestic services from Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda as part of its push to establish Bhubaneswar as a major aviation hub.
