Overview
- The High-Level Clearance Authority, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, approved 20 projects totalling about ₹76,611.86–76,612 crore at its 45th meeting on Wednesday.
- Officials say the package could create roughly 50,517 jobs across nine districts, with lab-grown diamond units in Khordha expected to generate about 8,100 positions.
- Flagship investments include a ₹15,000 crore, 4 MTPA integrated steel plant in Jajpur, a ₹10,000 crore Tata Power Renewable Energy ingot/wafer and Solar PV cell unit in Ganjam, and a ₹5,220 crore pumped-storage hydro project in Malkangiri.
- The approvals target clean-energy equipment, rare-earth value-addition, advanced manufacturing and heavy metals, reflecting a push to move raw resources into higher-value local industry.
- These HLCA clearances are a political and policy go-ahead but still require project-level permits such as environmental clearances, land allotment and financial closure before construction or operations begin.
