Overview
- The Odisha Cabinet cleared the Odisha Development Authorities (Amendment) Bill to add a Chapter IIA that allows the state to notify Economic Region Development Authorities without fresh laws for each region.
- The Bhubaneswar–Cuttack–Puri–Paradip area (BKPPER) was named as the first pilot ERDA to deliver coordinated planning for mobility, housing, ports, industry and riverine and wetland projects.
- The State Level Project Monitoring Committee approved the BKPPER Project Proposal Report and recommended taking it forward as an Externally Assisted Project, proposing an initial Rs 5,000 crore package with 70% as an ADB loan and 30% as central support.
- Following SLPMC approval, the BKPPER proposal was uploaded to the Department of Economic Affairs for central appraisal, a step required before any ADB loan or central CER funds are released.
- The Cabinet also approved MMJJM 2.0, a five‑year Rs 2,995 crore state programme to deliver direct cash transfers and livelihood support to eight lakh tribal and PVTG households, reflecting parallel social and growth priorities tied to Odisha Vision 2036/2047.
