• The MoU between Odisha Mission Shakti and the Weavers’ Service Centre was signed on July 29 to empower women weavers through skill development and design innovation.
• The initial phase of the partnership will deploy prototype support, expert guidance on aesthetics and finishing, and enterprise-readiness training for Self-Help Groups.
• Digital cataloguing and professional photography services are being introduced to enhance visibility of SHG products in national and international marketplaces.
• Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida highlighted the goal of transforming ‘Lakhpati Didis’—women earning over one lakh rupees annually—into crorepatis under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s leadership.
• The initiative draws on Odisha’s Santali weaving and Sankirtan motifs from Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar to build a sustainable, women-led textile ecosystem.
