Overview
- Ofgem will raise the overall energy price cap slightly from 1 January, with gas unit rates falling but electricity rates and standing charges rising.
- Octopus says it will not pass on the full January increase, will keep standard standing charges lower than other large suppliers, and expects most customers’ monthly payments to remain unchanged.
- From 1 April, Octopus will automatically lower prices across all variable and fixed tariffs to pass through Autumn Budget policy savings.
- Uswitch reports 26 fixed-rate deals below the cap and says switching now could save the average household up to £177, naming Outfox Energy as the best-value offer identified.
- Octopus is inviting customer feedback via a survey that will award £512 account credit to eight randomly selected respondents.
