Overview
- Octopus disclosed Wednesday that more than 500,000 drivers are using its Intelligent Octopus Go home EV tariff and the company says those users can save about £850 a year based on 7,600 miles and an 8p/kWh charging rate.
- Independent analysis from Cornwall Insight shows Octopus supplies roughly 59% of Britain’s EV tariff customers, underlining its dominant share of the smart-home charging market.
- The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders reported that July registrations topped 43,000 new electric vehicles, a 44.5% year-on-year rise that gave EVs a 27.5% market share.
- Zapmap estimates roughly 1.4 million home chargers and about 122,724 public chargers in the UK, and Octopus offers staff £400 toward a home charger or £400 of Electroverse public charging for those without driveways.
- Forecourt fuel has risen since the Middle East conflict began with petrol around 161.3p per litre and diesel at 181.1p, a price shock that the RAC says could push diesel higher and that may speed household moves to home EV charging.
