Dr Kishore Divan and wife Asha Divan were described as kind-hearted in tributes online.

Overview

  • The Divans—Dr. Kishore Divan (89), Asha Divan (85), Shailesh Divan (86) and Gita Divan (84)—disappeared on July 29 while driving from Buffalo to a spiritual retreat in Moundsville, West Virginia.
  • Search teams from Marshall and Ohio counties used helicopters, ground crews, license-plate readers and cellphone-tower pings to trace the family’s 2009 Toyota Camry.
  • On the night of August 2, the Camry was found off a steep embankment along Big Wheeling Creek Road, roughly five miles from Prabhupada’s Palace of Gold.
  • Surveillance footage and credit-card records last placed the family at a Burger King in Erie, Pennsylvania, before their vehicle was detected heading south on Interstate 79.
  • Marshall County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the deaths and continues to investigate the precise circumstances of the single-vehicle crash.
