October SNAP Payout Dates Set for Texas, New Mexico and Florida

Florida moves to limit low-nutrition purchases under USDA waivers.

Overview

  • Texas will deposit October SNAP benefits by EDG number, with households certified before June 1, 2020 paid on set dates in the first 15 days and those certified on or after that date paid on a staggered schedule from Oct. 16 to Oct. 28.
  • New Mexico will issue payments from Oct. 1 to Oct. 20 based on the last two digits of each recipient’s Social Security number.
  • Florida will distribute benefits from Oct. 1 to Oct. 28 according to the ninth and eighth digits of case numbers, while cash benefits load Oct. 1–3 by digit ranges.
  • Florida is implementing restrictions that block SNAP purchases of sodas, energy drinks, candy and prepared desserts, as well as alcohol, tobacco and personal care items.
  • Reporting indicates a federal change referred to as the One Beautiful Act is expected to expand work requirements to many adults ages 18–64 at 20 hours per week, with states phasing in the rules starting early next year and some exemptions applying.
