Overview

• Officers responded around 10:20 p.m. Thursday to eastbound Oceanside Boulevard west of El Camino Real after a pedestrian was struck.
• The victim, an adult male, died from his injuries and his identity has not been publicly confirmed.
• Using city surveillance cameras and license-plate reader data, investigators identified a 2020 Ford Ranger tied to the collision.
• Police located the truck at the home of its registered owner, 65-year-old Yolanda Orozco of Oceanside, who admitted driving at the time.
• Officers said she showed signs of intoxication and arrested her on suspicion of felony hit-and-run with additional DUI-related charges; the case remains under investigation and witnesses are asked to call (760) 435-4952.
