Occhiuto Wins Second Term in Calabria With About 58%, Center-Right Retains Region

Called after Occhiuto resigned upon receiving a judicial notice, the snap vote strengthened Forza Italia’s grip, exposing weakness in the PD–M5S alliance.

Overview

  • With results reported around completion, Roberto Occhiuto is at roughly 57–58% against Pasquale Tridico near 41%, with Francesco Toscano around 1%.
  • Turnout reached about 43.1–43.2%, slightly below 2021, a figure influenced by large numbers of AIRE registrants and residents living outside the region.
  • Forza Italia led the party vote at about 18% and the ‘Occhiuto presidente’ civic list scored roughly 12–13%, taking the governor’s combined lists above 30%, while FdI was near 11–12% and the Lega around 9–10%.
  • The M5S list finished near 6–6.5%, trailing the ‘Tridico presidente’ list at about 7–7.6%; PD-affiliated lists totaled roughly 19–20%, and coalition leaders acknowledged a clear defeat.
  • The contest produced Calabria’s first reconfirmation of an incumbent governor; national center-right leaders celebrated as Tridico conceded and Occhiuto called to pacify the political climate after a heated campaign.
