Overview
- JioHotstar announced that Obsession: The Original Uncut Version will premiere on The Peacock Hub on October 30 at 7 PM and will be available in English and Hindi.
- The release formally packages an alternate, more violent cut that circulated online months earlier after uncensored scenes leaked and went viral.
- India’s Central Board of Film Certification required edits to the theatrical release, ordering about 38 seconds removed for violence and explicit content before the May theatrical run.
- Curry Barker wrote, directed and edited the film, which stars Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette and first premiered at TIFF before its Indian theatrical debut.
- The uncut digital premiere is timed for Halloween to expand the film’s audience in India and to give viewers an authorized way to see the material that drove earlier online demand, with reports differing on the film’s total box-office take.
