Oberlin Professor Suspended Amid Resurfaced Sexual Allegations and Antisemitism Probe

Mohammad Jafar Mahallati, previously accused of supporting Hamas, faces renewed scrutiny over past sexual misconduct and antisemitic allegations.

Oberlin College Professor Mohammad Jafar Mahallati, previously accused of antisemitism and supporting Hamas, has been placed on indefinite administrative leave following the resurfacing of sexual allegations from the 1990s.
Mahallati, a former Iranian ambassador to the United Nations, is alleged to have offered better grades to a graduate student at Columbia University in exchange for sexual favors.
The professor is also under investigation by the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights for allegedly allowing harassment of Jewish students and making derogatory remarks about Israel.
Mahallati has previously been accused by Amnesty International of helping Iran cover up the execution of political prisoners in 1988.
Oberlin College is facing scrutiny for its handling of the allegations and its response to antisemitism on campus.
