Oaxaca Detains Active Police Officer in Juchitán Killings and 4-Year-Old’s Disappearance

Officials cite an intelligence-led, multi-agency operation as key to the case.

Overview

  • State prosecutors confirmed the November 11 arrest of Lamberto Sánchez Valdivieso, an active PABIC officer, as the probable material author of a triple homicide and the disappearance and murder of four-year-old Noelia Dailet Santiago García.
  • The investigation began after the November 10 discovery of two women and one man dead on Avenida Vicente Guerrero at the entrance to Guiguyita in Juchitán de Zaragoza.
  • Noelia’s body was later found inside a private home in Colonia La Planta during a coordinated operation led by the Oaxaca prosecutor’s office with federal and state security forces.
  • Three women were detained at that address and are under investigation for their links to the child’s death and possible involvement in the other killings, according to the Fiscalía.
  • Authorities stressed there will be no impunity and pointed to shortcomings in police control and trust mechanisms as they pursue further charges and institutional reforms.
