• He first tried dialing 911 but ended the call when dispatchers could not understand him, according to his mother, Shantell Woods.
• The friend rushed over and summoned further help, and Woods, who has epilepsy, later said her son’s actions saved her life.
• At an Oct. 14 news conference, Sheriff Michael Bouchard honored Cody, naming him a junior deputy and presenting gifts including a Chuck E. Cheese certificate and an ice cream cake.
