The Oakland Athletics acquired right-hander Austin Adams from the New York Mets on Sunday for cash considerations.
Adams, 32, has a career ERA of 4.17 across 132 appearances in the major leagues.
To make room for Adams, the Athletics placed right-hander Trevor Gott on the 60-day injured list, as Gott is expected to undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the entire season.
Gott, 31, has a career ERA of 4.65 in 255 relief appearances across six teams.
Adams was assigned outright to Triple-A Syracuse on Feb. 12 and had a 6.75 ERA over six games with the Mets during spring training.
