Oak Creek Plan Commission Unanimously Approves Buc-ee’s Mega Travel Center
The vote opens the door to permitting after a court dismissed a challenge.
Overview
- Commissioners approved plans Tuesday for a 73,000-square-foot, 24-hour travel center at I-94 and Elm Road on roughly 29 acres.
- Buc-ee’s can now close on the property and apply for permits, with the developer aiming to start construction later this year and open in 2027.
- The site plan features a large fueling plaza reported at about 120 pumps, and the chain projects more than 10,000 vehicle visits per day.
- A WisDOT review calls for widening 27th Street, West Elm Road and the I-94 interchange, and Buc-ee’s says it will fund about $5–6 million in upgrades.
- Nearby residents continue to object over traffic, lighting and noise; a previous lawsuit was dismissed in August, and the mayor said he does not expect new litigation to delay the project.
