Overview

• The Times rolled out Pips globally on Aug. 18 around 12 p.m. ET with simultaneous availability on the NYT Games app and the web, with some access gated by a Games subscription.
• Players drag, drop and rotate digital dominoes to satisfy region rules such as equal, not-equal, greater than, less than or specific sums across Easy, Medium and Hard dailies.
• NYT describes Pips as its first original logic puzzle and the first to feature drag-and-drop controls plus an interactive tutorial, emphasizing human-crafted design.
• Post-launch coverage now includes tutorials, walkthroughs and daily hints/solutions from outlets and communities, and the game records solve times with shareable results.
• To promote the debut, NYT Games is partnering with PIPS wine bar in Brooklyn Heights from Aug. 28–30, where showing a solved puzzle earns a complimentary cocktail curated by Chris Perfetti.
