NYSE Plans to Extend Trading Hours to 22 Hours a Day

The New York Stock Exchange seeks SEC approval to offer nearly round-the-clock trading on its electronic platform.

The NYSE Arca electronic exchange aims to operate from 1:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Eastern Time on weekdays, excluding holidays.
Currently, U.S. equities trading on the NYSE occurs between 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with some pre-market and after-hours sessions.
The extension proposal reflects increased demand for continuous trading and competition from platforms like Robinhood and cryptocurrency exchanges.
Approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission is required before the extended trading hours can be implemented.
All U.S.-listed stocks, ETFs, and closed-end funds will be available for trading during the proposed extended hours on NYSE Arca.
