Overview
- Surveillance footage released Tuesday shows a woman leaving a newborn at 9:04 a.m. inside 34th Street–Penn Station before exiting the subway.
- An anonymous tip led officers to the baby around 9:30 a.m. on the stairs to the southbound 1, 2 and 3 platform in Midtown Manhattan.
- EMS took the girl to Bellevue Hospital, where she is in stable condition, and investigators noted her umbilical cord was still attached.
- Detectives said they have not found evidence the child was born on a train or inside the station.
