Overview

• The attack occurred Aug. 29 at about 5:23 p.m. on a Queens-bound A train near the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets station in Brooklyn.
• Police say the suspect became enraged after being accidentally bumped, pulled a sharp object from a backpack, and slashed a 31-year-old rider on the face and left wrist.
• The assailant exited the train at Hoyt-Schermerhorn before officers from the 84th Precinct and NYPD Transit District 30 could intervene.
• The victim was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, received stitches, and is listed in stable condition.
• On Tuesday, investigators released surveillance images and a clothing description—black hat, black sweater, blue pants—and asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or online.
