NYPD Releases Images, Seeks Suspects in Midtown Subway Slashing and Track Shove

The confrontation began after the victims recorded two masked men they viewed as suspicious.

Overview

  • Police say two men attacked riders on the southbound F platform at 57th Street around 11 p.m. on Oct. 11, slashing a 39-year-old’s hand and pushing a 37-year-old onto the tracks.
  • Both victims were taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center and are listed in stable condition, and the man who fell climbed back to the platform before a train arrived.
  • Detectives circulated cellphone images captured by the victims that show the suspects seconds before the assault and asked the public to submit tips to Crime Stoppers.
  • One suspect wore a ski mask with a purple jacket and dark clothing, the other a gray sweatshirt with an orange jacket, and they fled the station with two unidentified females.
  • No arrests have been announced, and the search continues as officials note recent low quarterly transit crime figures alongside a slight year-to-date rise in felony assaults.
