NYPD Releases Images, Seeks Suspect in Union Square L-Train Stabbing

Detectives posted photos seeking Crime Stoppers tips.

Overview

  • Police say a 45-year-old man was stabbed twice in the back after a verbal dispute on an 8th Avenue-bound L train around 10 a.m. on Dec. 10 as it arrived at 14 St–Union Square.
  • The assailant fled on a Brooklyn-bound L train and officers recovered a knife, while the victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
  • According to police sources, the victim walked into the NYPD Transit District 4 stationhouse carrying the recovered knife before EMS transported him for treatment.
  • Detectives released images and a description of the suspect, who wore a black jacket, light jeans and white Nike sneakers and was seen with a scooter and a black backpack; no arrests have been made.
  • Investigators conducted a video canvass and urged tips to Crime Stoppers as broader data show a recent citywide drop in transit crime even as felony assaults are up year to date in the 13th Precinct.
