Overview

  • Final rollout on August 4 completed coverage across Brooklyn’s 71 precincts after initial deployments in Manhattan and the Bronx in July.
  • Since April’s pilot launch, Q-Teams have handled over 23,400 nuisance calls, towed 640 abandoned vehicles and seized 299 illegal scooters and mopeds.
  • Monthly Q-Stat reviews, modeled after CompStat, guide deployments by tracking hotspots and measuring outcomes.
  • The program works alongside the Vehicle Response Team, Smoke Shop Task Force and Encampment Team to tackle specific issues from unlicensed businesses to homeless encampments.
  • City officials plan subsequent expansions to Queens on August 11, Staten Island on August 18 and NYCHA housing commands on August 25, while some advocates urge greater investment in housing and social services.
