NYPD Officer Indicted for Assaulting Homeless Man, Breaking Nose

NYPD officer Juan Perez has been indicted for assault in the third degree for beating a drunken man in Greenwich Village in 2019.
Perez allegedly repeatedly punched the man as he lay on the ground, knocking him unconscious.
The victim suffered a broken nose and significant swelling and was sent to the hospital.
Perez pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released without bail pending an Aug. 2 court appearance.
Perez has been the subject of nine Civilian Complaint Review Board complaints, none of which has led to discipline.
