Separate women’s and men’s viewings at Parkchester Jame Masjid will precede a private prayer service following Tuesday’s dignified transfer procession

  • On Tuesday, a dignified transfer procession closed sections of the FDR Drive as NYPD and FDNY personnel rendered honors for Officer Islam’s remains
  • The funeral will open Thursday morning with a women-only viewing from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a men-only viewing from 11 a.m. to noon under Islamic tradition
  • A private tribute and prayer service will be held Thursday afternoon to conclude the line-of-duty ceremonies
  • Officer Islam was off duty and working a private security detail when he was ambushed and killed during the July 28 mass shooting at 345 Park Avenue that left four people dead
