NYPD Names Suspect in Bronx Rideshare Driver Killing and Seeks Public’s Help

Investigators say a minor fender-bender preceded the shooting.

Overview

  • Police identified 24-year-old Ehinel Troncoso as a suspect and released his image in connection with the Jan. 1 killing of Uber driver Issa Mbolo Isac in Mount Hope.
  • Isac, 55, was found shot in the head inside his blue Toyota RAV4 on Morris Avenue after FDNY crews discovered the crashed vehicle and alerted officers.
  • Surveillance video shows a man approach the driver’s window before Isac reversed and two people ran after the car, and ballistics indicate shots were fired from the street toward the vehicle.
  • Authorities say the confrontation followed a minor collision, and the case has been reported as New York City’s first homicide of 2026.
  • Taxi and livery groups are offering a $10,000 reward for information, and tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS, on the website, or on X @NYPDTips.
