NYPD Finds Owner of SUV in Hit-and-Run That Killed Former Nickelodeon Actor Kianna Underwood

Detectives have seized a Ford Explorer as the search continues for the sedan driver seen dragging her for blocks.

Overview

  • Police located the owner of a black 2021 Ford Explorer tied to the Brownsville crash, and he told investigators he is retaining a lawyer and would not answer questions.
  • Detectives seized the SUV and are reviewing surveillance video to determine who was driving when Underwood, 33, was struck just before 7 a.m. Friday.
  • According to police, Underwood was in the crosswalk at Pitkin Avenue and Mother Gaston Boulevard against the light when the westbound SUV, which had the green, veered across the double yellow line to pass and hit her.
  • A second vehicle described as a black-and-gray sedan then struck Underwood and dragged her for more than two blocks before her body came loose, and that driver did not stop.
  • No charges have been filed, the sedan driver remains at large, and investigators continue to gather evidence in the fatal hit-and-run.
